Differences with Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends[]
- In the manga the events of Kenshin going to the port trying to stop Shishio from departing with his ship happen after he learns the ōgi of the Hiten Mitsurugi. In the live action movies, the Rengoku departure subplot happens in Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno and Kenshin learning the Amakakeru Ryū no Hirameki happens in Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends.
- In the manga Kenshin, Saitō and Sanosuke are outside Kyōto when the Great Kyōto Fire plot starts (travelling to the Osaka port to stop Shishio). In the live action movie they are in Kyōto fighting the Jūppongatana until Kenshin discovers Shishio's ship about to sail, so he runs (and rides a horse) to the port in hopes to stop Shishio (who has kidnapped Kaoru).
