Remembrance 8: Arrival of Enishi is the one hundred seventy-third chapter of the Rurouni Kenshin manga.
Synopsis[]
Kenshin and the children play an enactment of the Shinsengumi vs the Choushuu Clan. Then Kenshin notices the girls looking at an emotionless boy standing outside. One of the boys want to greet him, but the boy rudely rebutts the offer. After hearing all of the commotion, Tomoe steps outside and calls out "Enishi". Enishi's face lights up at the sight of his sister, ending all of the chaos.
Inside the farm house, Tomoe introduces Kenshin to her younger brother. Assuming that they would like to have some privacy, Kenshin heads back outside. The only thing on his mind is the question of how Enishi found his sister's exact location.
Tomoe was surprised that Enishi managed to find her after Enishi replies their father left for Kyoto a year after she did, but won't tell about his sources, except connections. What more, he asks that his beloved sister to cheer up because it will soon be time for Battousai to receive punishment from the heavens. Shocked after hearing that, Tomoe realizes Enishi was the messenger sent by the Yaminobu ninja of the Bakufu, and revealing that Tomoe was a spy all along to exact her own "vengeance". Their leader, Tatsumi, told her he'd send a messenger to let her know when the time is right to eliminate Battousai, but never imagined it would be her own brother. Enishi extends his hand towards his sister so they can return home, but Tomoe silently refuses to leave and just Enishi to go home. This response causes Enishi to snap, unable to know why her sister would defend the man that took away her happiness.
As the sun sets, Kenshin heads back to the farm house and meets up with Enishi running off on the path who angrily glares at him, and wishing that Kenshin had never been "there". A confused Kenshin enters the house and startled by wife's current reaction. She then calms and answers that Enishi went back to Edo.
Out of the blue, Tomoe decides to finally opens up to Kenshin about her past.
