The Two in Black (Part 2) is the two hundred seventeenth chapter of the Rurouni Kenshin manga.
Synopsis[]
Aoshi and Gein continue to engage with Gein still not answering Aoshi's question of Kaoru's loocation. While the old man begins thinking of his next move, his thoughts are interrupted when Aoshi demolishes the entire area with the Kaiten Kenbu Rokuren. Gein is chased out of hiding and followed and awaits atop a tree for his hunter to catch up.
Once Aoshi does so, Gein agrees to tell him where Kaoru is if he tells him where his corpse doll is. Intentionally, Gein slips out that Enishi's location, on the west bank of the Arakawa River, forcing Aoshi to say his answer. Gein plays dumb and pretends he cannot hear too well, so he lures Aoshi in closer to him. Aoshi plays along and eventually gets caught in a web of steel wires soaked in highly refined oil. Gein repeats his demands again, only for the selfish practitioner to be shocked in response when Aoshi answers he already incinerated the doll out of pity.
An angry Gein sets the web on fire which is when Aoshi executes the Onmyou Hasshi, stabbing Gein in the left shoulder. On the handle of the kodachi launched is a steel wire tied onto it. Before he is pulled into the fire to join the former Oniwa Banshu leader, Gein begs Aoshi to spare him and open the web the exchange. Aoshi has no sympathy for the soon-to-be dead; he pulls Gein in.
A police unit led by Saitou investigate the scene after the fire had died out. Amongst the evidence is Gein's skull mask and an actual skull. From under a pile of rubble rises Aoshi, who escaped death by taking cover in a plot that was dug up twice. Saitou questions Aoshi if he had thought of committing suicide along with the mechanical artist. Aoshi replies with an unexpected answer, saying he still has business to take care of and that there is someone waiting for his return.
