Hurry Go Round is the two hundred fifty-first chapter of the Rurouni Kenshin manga. It is also the closing chapter of the Jinchū Arc.

Synopsis[]

Now that the fight has finally ended, everyone is trying to reconstruct what was damaged. Kaoru gives Enishi his sister's diary before he is taken into custody. But several days later Enishi escapes, never to be seen again.

Some time later Kenshin and Kaory travel to Kyōto to pay respects at Tomoe's grave and get a closure to all the events that happened. What surprises may await at Tomoe's grave? What was the fate of Enishi after all this time?

Summary[]

As the Kenshingumi watches Enishi taken into police custody, Kaoru asks Misao if she brought along what she asked her to bring from Kyōto. Misao pulls out Tomoe's diary and hands it to Kaoru, who gives it to Enishi. That was the last time any of them had ever seen Yukishiro Enishi.

A week later, Enishi had escaped custody by jumping off the police ship and swam away. The police had ordered a manhunt for Enishi, but Saitō called the whole thing off, knowing that the current Enishi could not kill another person after everything he's been through. Following, the weapons organization Heishin had been recently handed leadership to was destroyed.

Kenshin and Kaoru pay a visit to Tomoe's grave in Kyōto, and find to their surprise, a hair ornament and a bottle filled with the white plum scent. While unsure of who actually came, the two begin praying. Kenshin asks Kaoru what she'll say to Tomoe. Kaoru replies that a simple thank you will do, since because it was Tomoe who calmed Enishi's will to kill young girls. However, Kaoru is concerned that Enishi may go and do something rash, like commit suicide as the proportionate punishment. Kenshin doesn't think so as he believes that Enishi still has to regain Tomoe's smile as the time "around him stopped" has turned again, and that Tomoe will watch over Enishi forever, for she is kinder than anyone or anything. Kaoru then asks Kenshin the same question he asked her. Kenshin replies that he will thank, apologize, and at last, say good-bye to his wife. The rurouni turns his back to Tomoe's grave and extends his hand at Kaoru, asking if she's ready to go. Kaoru clasps Kenshin's hand and sets off, leaving Kyōto in the past once and for all.

Oibore returns to the Rakuninmura, only to find that a new visitor has arrived. Enishi is seen sitting in the same place where Kenshin had been, holding tightly to his sister's diary. The old man looks at Enishi, then comments, saying he's seen him before. Enishi looks at Oibore and says the same. While odd that the two somewhat recognize each other, Oibore explains to Enishi that he won't be a permanent resident of the Rakuninmura unless he lets go of everything. Seeing that he still is holding onto something, the old man tells Enishi to rest.
