Heisuke replies that that is pointless since the wolf's code will never forgive traitors. Shinpachi says that he will take care of it since his fellow comrades from the Dojo don't want to see Heisuke throw him life away. Suddenly Takeo Hattori arrive and tells Heisuke to stand down. The Shinsengumi are shocked to see Hattori but decide to attack him all at once. Hattori tells his comrades to stand down and takes down some members of the Shinsengumi himself. Suddenly Saito arrives and attacks with the Gatotsu, but Hattori blocks it and comments about how the Gatotsu is a lot slower than he thought. Shinpachi says that Saito was supposed to be in hiding, which Saito replies that he will hide when he has dealt with these traitors. Suddenly Heisuke is stabbed by multiple Shinsengumi members, which Shinpachi sees this and worries about him. Heisuke tells Shinpachi that the Shinsengumi will be the next to fall, and explains how he doesn't like the current Shinsengumi since the Shinsengumi's fangs were to sharp to follow the wolf's code. Heisuke then bids Shinpachi goodbye, which Shinpachi reaches for Heisuke.

Suddenly Shinpachi wakes up and realizes that it was all a dream. Eiji comes in but notices that Shinpachi is awake and is getting dressed. Eiji tells Shinpachi that they found an official to act as bait. As they arrive at the station, Saito comments about how he didn't think that they would find someone so soon which Shinpachi wonders who is the auspicious man. Ijikawa mentions that the official is in the ministry of agriculture and commerce, along with having a lot of spirit. As Ijikawa opens the door and mentions that Shinpachi and Saito knows the official, the two are shock to see who it is. The official says that Shinpachi has aged a bit, which Eiji asks if the official was in the Shinsengumi. Shinpachi reveals that the official was in the Shinsengumi, along with be a member of the Goryo-Eiji and being one of the shooters who tries to take out Kondou, which Eiji is shocked by this. Saito reveals that the official's name is Jurou Abe, which Jurou says that he doesn't want to be betrayed or deceived like at Abura-Nokouji and tells them to be sure to do their best to protect him.

Later that night, Ijikawa is talking with two others and laughs at how Saito's face looked like when they saw Jurou Abe. One of them asks if the others are heading out later tonight, which Ijikawa explains that he has issued a report for the officials to stay off the streets at night and that they should see some results within the next few days. Ijikawa also says that he is going to win no matter who wins since he will get the credit if the slasher dies or if Saito and Shinpachi dies.

Elsewhere, Saito, Shinpachi, and Eiji are guarding Jurou when Saito asks what Jurou is up to. Jurou explains that Saito should show him more respect. Jurou then explains what happened to him after the Goryo-Eiji disbanded, and that he feels that he never felt like he had defeated the Shinsengumi. Jurou then explains that he wants to see the Shinsengumi lose for once and that it would be great if the criminal from the Kenkaku Heiki were to defeat the strongest of the Shinsengumi, Shinpachi and Saito.

Elsewhere, the two with Ijikawa decide to leave a passed out Ijikawa at the inn along with the bill. One of them wants to head to a second place to drink, but the other one says that they issued a notice to not be out at night and that they have to head home soon. They decide to head through the back alleys, but they are suddenly confronted by Sou Hyoube. They notices that its an ambush and wonder how Hyoube knew they would be coming through the alleys.
