The Aoiya is a well-known, mid-size inn located in Kyōto and run by Kashiwazaki Nenji and his associates.
History[]
Not too long ago, the Aoiya once served as a safehouse and base of operations for the Oniwabanshū onmitsu organization.
Kyōto Arc[]
Now, in the Meiji era, the Aoiya's main purpose is to offer a safe place to live and work for all of the Oniwabanshū members incapable of or unwilling to rejoin normal society.
In the summer of 1878, the Aoiya was badly damaged when the remaining members of the Oniwabanshū clashed with several soldiers of the Juppongatana, but was rebuilt later that same year.
Jinchū Arc[]
When Yukishiro Enishi attacked Kenshin's friends and associates at Tokyo, and then threatened to attack the Kamiya Dōjō and kill Kamiya Kaoru, she sent a letter to the Aoiya members in Kyōto, asking them to retrieve Yukishiro Tomoe's diary and bring it to Tokyo, so they can let Enishi know about his sister's true feelings for Kenshin, in hopes to stop the attack
Makimachi Misao and Shinomori Aoshi then took the diary and traveled to Tokyo, but sadly did not make it in time to stop Enishi's attack.

The Aoiya inn is a big building that has two floors.

In the ground floor there is a central garden surrounded by several rooms.
Second Floor[]
The second floor has several rooms as well.

The residents of the Aoiya are the Oniwabanshū.
