Anime

Rurouni Kenshin is an anime series based on the manga of the same name. It covers 95 episodes and is set at a time just over 10 years after the Meiji Revolution. It focuses on the life of a legendary Hitokiri (i.e. manslayer) named Himura Kenshin, who became a Rurouni (i.e. wanderer) after the Bakumatsu and gave up his murderous ways, pursuing a life where he helps protect the innocent in order to atone for his previous misdeeds. In his journey, he meets a woman in Tokyo named Kamiya Kaoru, whose life he saves from a man who is impersonating him and trying to bring ruin upon the Kamiya Kasshin-ryū dojo (headed by Kaoru).
