The Rurouni Kenshin manga was originally serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from April 25, 1994 to September 21, 1999 for a total of 255 chapters, or “Acts”, divided into 28 volumes, as well as an extra chapter written years after the end of the series. The series is broken into three major arcs, which are Tokyo (Act 1 - Act 47), Kyoto (Act 48 - Act 151), and Jinchū (Act 152 - Act 255). There is also a fourth arc, the Hokkaidō arc, that is currently serialized in Shueisha’s Jump Square. One chapter of that arc is published every month. An anime adaptation was made that lasted from January 6, 1996 to its cancellation on September 8, 1998.
