Yutaro Returns: The Conspiracy of the Shadow Swordsmen (由太郎帰国· 影に潜む黒騎士団の野望 Yutarō Kikoku, Kage ni Hisomu Kurokishidan no Yabō) is the 83rd episode of the Rurouni Kenshin anime.
Synopsis[]
Tsukayama Yutarō (who now has his right arm healed thanks to Western medicine) has returned to Japan to see the Kenshingumi. But his doctor Hans appears to have in his possession some secret information that makes him a target of a mysterious group who are following him from Germany. They target Hans looking for some kind of map that leads to a miraculous medicine. And when they take a paper with some information from Hans, that group receives a visit from a female ninja who states that they have shared interests and goals. Who are this people who are targeting Hans and Yutaro? What is the information that Hans has, and what does it lead to?
Plot[]
In Germany in a stormy night, a group of thugs enter a house and search (destroying things in the process) for something valuable. They cannot find what they are looking for, and realize that "he must have taken it with himself on his way to Japan".
Yutarō and Yahiko meet again in the Kamiya Dōjō
Yahiko, Kenshin and Kaoru return to the Kamiya Dōjō. They are surprised to see Sanosuke playing shogi with a western gentleman. It turns out he is Hans, Tsukayama Yutarō's uncle, and both of them have returned to Japan. Yahiko is very happy to see Yutarō, and he has a great piece of news: he has almost completely recovered the movement of his right arm. Yutarō once again displays great skills at swordsmanship (with his teachings in western fencing).

On the German Embassy in Tokyo there is a party and there are some special guests: a German army group who have arrived to Japan in search for something. They act very proud and selfish, mistreating even the German ambassador who fears them for some reason. They identify themselves as the Black Knights and ask the ambassador for info about Hans and Yutarō on Japan. Somewhere else at night, Hans is working on a map while Yutarō sleeps. Hans seems very worried for their security but says nothing to Yutarō.

The next day, after doing some training at the Dōjō (and more shogi games), everyone goes to the Akabeko to eat at night. Meanwhile, the group of Germans enter Hans' house in Tokyo and keep searching (also destroying things in the process) for that map. When the Kenshingumi finish eating, Hans and Yutarō say goodbye and part to their house but soon after Kenshin senses something and follows them in secret. On their way, Hans and Yutarō are attacked by the Black Knights group but Kenshin defends them. During the fight Hans is wounded in the shoulder. The attackers flee the scene.

The Kenshingumi take Hans to doctor Oguni's clinic where he is treated. Hans says that the attackers got the map Hans had in his possession, but says he previously hid some other hint to a treasure inside the Kamiya Dōjō. Meanwhile on the German Embassy, this group of attackers celebrate getting the map. While they are celebrating, a mysterious ninja girl appears and declares she also wants to get the map. A fight almost begins but she decides to cooperate with the Black Knights group since they have similar goals.
