Trivia[]
- Beshimi, Hyottoko, Shikijō and Han'nya are depicted in this opening with their graphical appearance as illustrated in the 22-volume kanzenban edition and 14-volume bunkoban edition of the manga covers (with high saturated colors and slightly more ellaborated clothing than normally).
- This opening sequence already uses elements from the Jinchū Arc of the original manga:
- There are moments where Yukishiro Tomoe's hair comb is shown falling to the ground (hinting at her death), intercalated with scenes of Kenshin fighting the Shinsengumi in his past as a Hitokiri at the Bakumatsu.
- There is a scene where Kenshin is seated on mountains of skulls. This is taken from Act 223 (in Volume 25 of the manga) where Kenshin is in a nightmare at the Rakuninmura village, reflecting on all of the aspects os his life.
- The next scene shows Kenshin's Sakabatō breaking free of chains. This is taken from Act 224 (also in Volume 25 of the manga) where Kenshin gets his ultimate answer about his path in life, gets to his feet, unsheathes the Sakabatō breaking it out of its shackles, and leaves Rakuninmura.
