Nikaidō Heihō style is a Kenjutsu style that is used by the assassin Udō Jin-e.
Description[]
Nikaidō Heihō style is Kenjutsu style that allows the user to effectively wield their blade with either hand. By being able to use their blade with either hand, the user can seamlessly switch between hands to confuse their opponent and find an opening.
Nikaidō Heihō style has three forms:
- One: The user holds their sword horizontally across their chest.
- Eight: The user holds both of their swords upside down, and slightly outwards.
- Ten: The user holds both their swords in a cross pattern over their chest.
Techniques[]
- Katate Hirazuki - The user performs a one-handed flat thrust.
- Yokonagi - Following the Katate Hirazuki, the user uses the form of One to perform a swift horizontal slash.
- Karatake-wari - After taking the stance for the form of Ten, the user performs a downward slash.
- Haishato - After having their sword arm rebound towards their back, the user places their sword into their other hand and performs a thrust while using the form of Eight.
- Shin no Ippo - The most feared aspect of the Nikaidō Heihō style. Only the founder was able to use it and it wasn't passed down to the next generation, but Udō Jin-e was able to somehow able to learn the techniques.
Known Practitioners[]
- Nikaidō (Founder) - The founder of the style who developed it and taught it to subsequent generations.
- Udō Jin-e - A swordman who fought during the Bakumatsu, and survived into the new era. He became a mad assassin, and later targeted Himura Kenshin, in hopes of killing him and prove Jin-e is the strongest.
Trivia[]
- The Nikaidō Heihō style gets its name with the founder's name (Nikaidō) and combining the three Kanji of each form to create the forced character, Hei.
- The forms within Nikaidō Heihō style, are represented by the kanji of One, Eight, and Ten.
