To Kyōto is the 1st episode of the Kyoto Inferno (2nd Season) and 25th episode overall of the Rurouni Kenshin 2023 anime adaptation.
Synopsis[]
A couple of days since Himura Kenshin disappeared into that fateful night, everyone is distraught, upset, and saddened by his unexpected departure, but Kaoru has taken his loss the worst, depressed and in longing. As everyone of the Kenshingumi cannot remain still, their motives and reasons also push them to join and aid Kenshin as well! How will the members of the Kenshingumi decide to go to Kyōto? Is this the beginning of a new adventure for everyone?

- In contrast with the content of Episode 31 of the 1996 anime series (which covered these events), in this episode Kenshin does appear at the very first and the last scenes.
- In this episode Kenshin also appears in a couple of flashback scenes (the scene of Kaoru's farewell, a scene of Kenshin talking to Saito at night, and a scene when Kenshin befriended Sanosuke).
- In the original 1996 anime Kenshin did not appear at all in the episode (only in the flashback scene of Kenshin and Saito at night).
