Chief Uramura (浦村署長 Uramura-shochō ) is the local police chief in Tokyo and one of the support characters in the Rurouni Kenshin series.
Appearance[]
Uramura has dark brown hair, black arc eyebrows, a thin mustache, eyes that always appear closed, and wears a glasses.
Uramura wears a blue police cap with a red rim with two white lines above it and yellow symbol in the middle, a blue policemen jacket over a white long sleeved shirt, blue pants, a belt he uses to hold his sword, and shoes.
Personality[]
Uramura is a dutiful man and takes his job seriously. He is not above asking for help, when he requires outside help with dealing with a problem that the police can't handle. Uramura originally thought of the battosai as a dangerous person, but after witnessing the real thing, he has changed is opinion. Uramura also trusts Kenshin and his friends, even to ask for their help and truth their word about a situation that he was not involved with. Uramura also helped Sano escape from being arrested, by giving Sano time to leave Japan while he distracts the police.
Relationships[]
- Himura Kenshin: Uramura was initially antagonistic towards Kenshin, believing him to be an outlaw, but after finding out that Kenshin was a patriot of the government, Uramura's view was changed and helped out Kenshin and his friends.
- Kenshin-Gumi: Uramura was originally antagonistic to Kenshin's friends, but after learning the truth, he became more helpful to them and even helped Sano escape when he was wanted by the police.
- Family: Uramura cares about his family, as he defended them when Otowa attacked them.
Abilities[]
Uramura wields a sword and a gun. Although his skills with a sword is unknown, Uramura was shown to use his gun, but his skills with it is unknown since he was easily defeated while using it.
History[]
Tokyo Arc[]
Uramura meets with Aritomo about the rumor of Battosai being in Tokyo. Uramura explains that the rumors were caused by an imposter and that they have already been caught. Suddenly they are informed that a swordsman with a cross shaped scar on his cheek, is defeating the police sword corp, which Uramura and Aritomo head out to the scene. As they reach the site, Uramura tries to stop Ujiki but Kenshin swiftly defeats Uijiki when he attacks. Uramura then has his men take the unconscious Police Sword corp into custody. After Aritomo finishes his talk with Kenshin, Aritomo asks Uramura not to pursue Kenshin. Uramura replies that he already figured out the situation and comments about how his image of Kenshin has changed.
Days later, Uramura comes to the Kamiya Dojo to ask for Kenshin assistance. Uramura apologizes for what happened with the Police Sword Corp, and explains how they were disbanded. Kenshin then asks what Uramura needs, which Uramura explains that they need Kenshin's help to deal with a murderer. Uramura explains the murderer Kurogasa, and what he has already done. When Kenshin agrees to help, Uramura brings Kenshin and Sano to Tani-san's mansion. When they get there, Tani doesn't want their help, since he hired guards already, but Uramura tells him that they won't be enough. Uramura then has Kenshin and Sano enter the room, which Tani is surprised and accepts their aide. Everyone then waits for Kurogasa's arrival, and is surprised when Kurogasa kills some guards outside. As Kurogasa enters the mansion, Uramura and everyone are frozen still when Kurogasa uses his technique on them. Uramura then watches as Kenshin manages to free himself and fight Kurogasa alone. After Kurogasa is forced to leave and makes Kenshin his next target, Uramura becomes worried for Kenshin.
Days later, Uramura and his men storm Kanryu's mansion and start to arrest people. When Megumi appears, Uramura asks who she is which Kanryu says that she is his partner in crime. Suddenly Kenshin arrives and says that she was forced to make the opium by Kanryu, which Uramura decides to believe Kenshin. Kenshin then asks about Aoshi, but Uramura replies that he doesn't know anybody named Aoshi and that they have only found four headless bodies. Uramura has his men search for Aoshi and manage to find him at the edge of the property. Uramura tries to order his men to arrest Aoshi, but Sano stops him.
Jinchu Arc[]
When Kujiranami fires a shot from his armstrong cannon, Uramura rushes to the site where it was fired from, with other policemen. They end up coming across Kenshin and his friends, which Uramura explains has happened. As they reach the site, Uramura investigates the site and finds a note. Uramura gives it to Kenshin and they discuss what it means. After discussing what it means, Uramura heads off.
When Otowa Hyōko attacking his house, Uramura tried to defend his family but Otowa easily defeats him. Uramura asks who Otowa is, which Otowa doesn't answer and pins Uramura's hand to the floor with his sword. As Kenshin suddenly arrives and Otowa tries to use that same trick that he used to defeat Uramura, Uramura tries to warn Kenshin, but Kenshin easily figures Otowa's trick out. Otowa decides to leave, while also taking his sword from Uramura's hand. Kenshin manages to notice a long distance attack coming in, and tells Uramura and his family about the attack. As his family manages to get to safety, Kenshin manages to carry Uramura to safety. Afterwards, Uramura is taken to get his injuries healed.
Days later when Kujiranami goes on a rampage, Uramura tells Saito what is happening.
Towards the epilogue when Sagara Sanosuke is on the run from the authorities for the Shinshuu incident, Uramura somehow returned the favor for saving his family as he purposely misleads the arrest party, thus aiding Sano's escape.
