Yamayoshi Morisuke (山吉 盛典 ) was the governor of Fukushima Prefecture during the Meiji period.
Appearance[]
Yamayoshi Morisuke is a middle aged man who has short brown hair and a moustache. He does not use glasses, and wears occidental suits.
Personality[]
Yamayoshi seems to be an intelligent and hardworking person, because he used to work with Ōkubo Toshimichi in the political ffairs of the nation. He also shows sadness and worry for the future of the nation once the news show that Ōkubo Toshimichi has been killed.
Relationships[]
- Ōkubo Toshimichi - Yamayoshi worked as a politician alongside Ōkubo, and both of them seemed to be friends since Ōkubo shared with Yamayoshi his plans and wishes for the future of Japan. Yamayoshi showed a lot of admiration and respect for Ōkubo.
- Kawaji Toshiyoshi - As a high-ranking police officer in Tokyo, Kawaji is in touch with Yamayoshi, and respected him greatly.

As a politician, Yamayoshi Morisuke must be skilled in the way of affairs since he rose to a position of high power and control in the government.

Kyōto Arc[]
After the assassination of Ōkubo Toshimichi by hands of Shishio Makoto's forces, Kenshin went to meet Saitō Hajime in order to gather as much information as possible. There, they met Yamayoshi Morisuke who explained that he was the last person to speak with Ōkubo, and that he acted way too worried and thinkful about the destiny of Japan in the next few years.
Yamayoshi wondered if Ōkubo had a hunch about his own life to be in danger, maybe foreshadowing the fact that a breaking point in Japan's history was close.
